Job Title: Director of Worship Ministry

Employment Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (20 hrs./week)

Accountable to: Lead Pastor

Job Description: To join the present SBC staff, Leadership Team, and congregation in fulfilling the mission and vision of the church by leading the music ministry of SBC.

To exercise the spiritual gifts and skills in ministry to accomplish the following general and specific ministry roles and responsibilities.

General Ministry Responsibilities:

• Participate in weekly Preaching Team and Staff Team Meetings.

• Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor for encouragement, support, & accountability.

• Maintain regular communication with the SBC Staff Team as needed.

Specific Ministry Responsibilities:

• Provide overall leadership/supervision of the music ministry of SBC and represent the ministry to the SBC Leadership Team.

• Provide musical oversight to the planning of weekly worship services and special services (including Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter, Missions Fest Sunday, etc.).

• Provide leadership and communication for weekly worship team rehearsals.

• Provide musical leadership for funerals and other SBC special events (as needed).

• Publish a monthly worship team schedule (including assigning musicians and singers for all services and special events).

• Serve as the church’s main “gatekeeper” of music, studying and evaluating songs to ensure that they are doctrinally correct and include solid theological content.

• Oversee all SBC worship team members (including recruiting and training new team members and developing and discipling the team as a whole).

• Work with the Children’s Ministry Director and the AWANA Director to plan seasonal “special music” opportunities for kids.

• Meet regularly with the Tech Director to ensure that the worship and tech teams are working together and supporting each other in the music ministry of SBC.

• Establish and manage the annual “Worship” budget line item.

Job Title: Pastor of Student Life

Employment Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Accountable to: Lead Pastor

Job Description: To join the present SBC staff, Leadership Team, and congregation in fulfilling the Mission and Vision of the church by making disciples of the youth in our SBC family and community. To exercise the spiritual gifts and calling as a pastor in the following Specific and General Pastoral Roles and Responsibilities.

Specific Pastoral/Ministry Responsibilities: The Pastor of Student Life will be responsible to provide pastoral leadership for the youth ministries at Sunrise. This will include the following responsibilities:

Middle School Ministry (The BLAST)

• Provide pastoral leadership for the weekly Wednesday night middle school ministry at Sunrise.

• Provide pastoral oversight for the middle school Sunday School class.

• Recruit and develop a team of volunteer leaders to be equipped to care for and disciple middle school students.

• Develop and oversee teaching curriculum for the calendar year.

• Plan and organize retreats and events throughout the year. High

School Ministry (The BREAK)

• Provide pastoral leadership for the weekly Sunday night high school ministry at Sunrise.

• Provide pastoral oversight for the high school Sunday School class.

• Recruit and develop a team of volunteer leaders to be equipped to care for and disciple high school students.

• Develop and oversee teaching curriculum for the calendar year.

• Develop partnerships with local outreach ministries to provide opportunities for high school students to serve in the community.

• Plan and organize retreats and events throughout the year, including bi-annual summer retreat and mission trip.

• Organize fundraising opportunities for annual trips throughout the year.

Additional Youth Ministry Responsibilities:

• Provide pastoral care and support for families as needed.

• Oversee youth prayer partner ministry as a pathway for the congregation of Sunrise to be involved in the ministry to youth.

• Participate in local youth networks as a means of building the value of the body of Christ in North Whatcom County.

General Pastoral/Ministry Responsibilities:

Meetings

• Weekly Meetings: Pastor planning and visioning meeting, pastor prayer meeting, church staff meeting, preaching team meeting.

• Monthly Meetings: Leadership Team meetings (twice a month and as needed)

Preaching and Teaching

• Meet regularly with the preaching team for sermon and sermon series’ prep.

• Preach and teach upon request with a frequency of roughly 2-4 times per year.

Pastoral Care

• Provide pastoral care to members and attendees of SBC by visiting/meeting with, counseling, encouraging, and equipping as needed.

• Work with the office and pastoral staff on following up with visitors, and with members/attenders as needed.

Weddings and Funerals

• Provide marriage mentoring for pre-engaged and engaged couples.

• Provide pastoral oversight and/or direction for weddings and funerals.

Administrative‍ ‍

• Maintain regular communication with the SBC Staff Team as needed.

• Establish and manage budgets as determined by the Deacon Team.
